When reading about personal learning networks this quote
from the text really spoke to me.
“Learning networks are not a one size fits all solution that works for
each school in the same way.” (Richardson & Mancabelli p.27) These tools are very power and one can
customize their networks to fit their own needs. These networks enhance student
learning. As educators we are educating
a new generation that learns through these networks. It is vital for us
educators to become successful on how to use and integrate these networks into
our classrooms. By using these networks
instruction is more individualized which gives student more ownership of their
learning.
Here are some helpful links about personal learning
networks.
There are so many quippets of wisdom in this reading - technology tools are not a one size fits all. Good links! I am adding them to my delicious account.

ReplyDeleteI'm curious, do you think starting to use Delicious is a waste if you already have Diigo? The text says Delicious is at risk of closing.
ReplyDeleteOh Keith, please don't tell me that! I have Symbaloo and delicious right now and would prefer not to have to change again.
DeleteKeith, I was wondering that as well about Delicious, when the book talked about it closing. I currently don't use Delicious and have a Diigo account from our past class. If it is the same idea, if a internet tool was going to be closing, I don't think I would want to put as much effort and time into something, but rather a tool I know is more reliable.
DeleteDelicious is not at risk of shutting down anymore. At the time the book was published there was some talk about that.
DeleteI also found that quote significant. I think one of the huge appeals of PLNs is that they are completely 100% custom and are designed by each individual person to fit their own individual learning style, interests, and needs.
